Sweet Pepper & Sausage Pasta

A delicious and simple recipe for Sweet Pepper & Sausage Pasta that brings comfort to your weeknight meals.

  • 8 ounces pasta of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 sweet bell peppers, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and cook until translucent.
  3. Add sweet bell peppers and garlic. Sauté until peppers are tender.
  4. Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the Italian sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it apart.
  5. Stir in the Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and diced tomatoes. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and mix everything together.
  7. Stir in fresh basil and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, substitute turkey sausage.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
