Old-Fashioned Caramel Rolls

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add eggs, melted butter, and salt. Gradually add flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough for about 8 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface.
  6. Spread caramel sauce, sprinkle brown sugar and pecans, then roll up the dough.
  7. Slice the rolled dough into pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
  8. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25-30 minutes.
  10. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the filling.
  • Serve with additional caramel sauce on top.
