- 2 pounds beef short ribs
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
- 1 cup dry red wine
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 4 slices of crusty bread
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a heavy pot, heat olive oil over medium heat and brown the short ribs on all sides.
- Remove the ribs and sauté onions until caramelized.
- Add garlic and thyme, then stir in the wine and vinegar.
- Return short ribs to the pot with beef broth.
