Amish Hamburger Steak Bake

An irresistible twist on a classic dish, combining juicy hamburger steaks with the smokiness of turkey bacon.

  • 1 pound hamburger meat
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy, then crumble it and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté the onions and mushrooms until tender.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the hamburger meat, breadcrumbs, eggs, salt, pepper, and half of the crumbled bacon.
  5. Shape the mixture into patties and place them in a baking dish.
  6. Top each patty with the sautéed onions and mushrooms.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the beef broth with the Worcestershire sauce and pour over the patties.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes.
  9. Serve warm, topped with the remaining turkey bacon.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can mix in some garlic powder or chopped parsley into the meat mixture.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or a side salad for a complete meal.
